Census Population by Race/Ethnicity and Age Group

This database contains annual estimates of resident population of the U.S., California, and California counties and MSA's by age, sex, races and combinations of races as of July 1st of each year. Estimates are developed with the assistance of the Federal State Cooperative Program for Population Estimates (FSCPE) and used in federal funding allocations, as denominators for vital rates and per capita time series, as survey controls, and in monitoring recent demographic changes. Estimates are revised with each new issue of July 1 data for years back to the last census. Previously published estimates by the Census are superseded and archived.

See also estimates for other U.S. States by age, sex, and race, estimates for other U.S. States and counties by age, sex, and race, and bridged-race postcensal population estimates by race and age.

The originating source for all areas is the Population Division of the U.S. Census Bureau. The series begins in 2000. For information on how estimates are generated, see Census Population by Race/Ethnicity and Age Background.
