Next update: Nov. 2011 |
This database provides cancer incidence data, crude rates, and age-adjusted rates for the United States and most states. It includes the leading cancers reported by the CDC. For a database with all cancer types, see Cancer Incidence and Rates in U.S. States, All Reported Cancers. Note that data are not available for Connecticut, Hawaii, Iowa, New Mexico, Utah and Vermont. Additionally, data are missing for some states in some years: Alabama (1999), Arkansas (1999, 2000, 2002), District of Columbia (2002, 2008), Maryland (2001), Mississippi (1999-2002), Nevada (1999, 2007), North Carolina (1999-2000), South Dakota (1999-2000), Tennessee (1999-2003), Vermont (1999-2008), and Virginia (1999-2002, 2008). See also incidence and rates by gender and by race.
The population estimates have been modified and are based on the annual time series of population estimates produced by the Population Estimates Program of the U.S. Bureau of the Census. For additional information, The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention National Program of Cancer Registries (NPCR), which is the source for these data.
