Supplemental Security Income Statistics

Note to users: This database has been expanded to include SSI payments for all U.S. state and counties. Please see Transfer of Payments in U.S. States and Counties.

SSI, administered by the U.S. Social Security Administration, provides income support for aged, blind, and/or disabled individuals and couples who have low income and few resources. Persons receiving SSI must satisfy both income and asset requirements. Non-citizens are eligible, but generally do not qualify for this program.

The data are reported for California, regions, and counties. Please note that all categories are not available in all years. The source is the U.S. Social Security Administration.
