California Greenhouse Gas Emissions

This form summarizes the emissions of Greenhouse Gases (GHG) in California from 1990 to 2004 and is no longer updated. Please see the current series of GHG emissions data. This 1990-2004 inventory was revised and released by the Air Resources Board in November 2007. It is the official AB32 inventory and establishes the 1990 limit of 427 Tg of CO2 eq.

Data are presented in millions of metric tons equivalent of CO2 (MMTCO2E). Please note that GHG possess different Global Warming Potential (GWP). Additional information on GWP can be found at the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change. Categories reflect GHG emissions by gas and by source. The source for these data is the Air Resources Board.
